I must admit, I too have fallen into the trance of the bammafied and cliche filled reality show that is Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. On that note I have a few goodies to share in my random Daily Dish.
Joseline and "Steebie J " (as she would call him) played host at Mansion Elan nightclub in Atlanta. Joseline also apologiized to her "daddy" Steebie J a few days after episode #8 of the show aired. In other words folks the freakshow is still going strong. Check out the pics below along with the next bit about MiMi. (pictures and sources courtesy straightfromthea.com)
NEXT: On a recent episode of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta, Mimi
Faust revealed dark secrets about her past. She revealed that her mother, Olaiya Odufunke, abandoned her family to pursue a career and lifetime residency with the Church of Scientology. Mimi was 13 when her mother abandoned their family, an act Mimi says affected her tremendously. We have learned more about Mimi’s mother and what we’ve learned about Olaiya
Odufunke aka Gloria, is beyond interesting.
Here it is :
Olaiya Odufunke died in 2007 but she spent much of her adult life living within the controversial Church of Scientology community and working in their organization. She held high-level positions within the church, one in their Treasury Department and another in the Office of Special Affairs. Both positions gave Odufunke complete access to church member’s personal files and influence over their advancement in the church.
Odufunke reportedly worked long hours for the church for nominal pay. She
and other Sea Organization members, who are trustee church workers who
have signed billion year contracts to work for the Church of Scientology lifetime after lifetime, lived in small apartments near the
church organization’s headquarters in groups. They often worked 100-hour work
weeks with no days off and were prevented from indulging in normal activities
like watching television, reading non-church materials, and rearing
children. In essence, Odufunke’s life centered in and around Scientology.
Nothing outside of the religion existed…not even her children.
Odufunke’s last position in the church before her death was something called,
Clearance in Charge. She held that position in Clearwater, Florida
between 2000 and 2003. As Clearance in Charge, it was Odufunke’s job
to screen church members who came to the Florida headquarters from around the
world. Odufunke would investigate members and review intelligence gathered on
them to determine IF that member qualified for advanced training in the
church. So…if it was discovered you had a criminal history or one of your family
members ever spoke out against the church or you didn’t pay your taxes (among
other infractions)…you were denied advanced church services. Odufunke and other
chosen elite church members basically held the keys to the kingdom of
the church. And according to members who worked with Odufunke, she took her job
and the power that came with that job, very seriously. Here’s what one church
worker had to say about Mimi’s mother:
“I knew her when she and I were both
working at OSA US (based in LA) in 1988-89. At the time she was using the name
‘Olaiya Olayinka’ and was posted in the Treasury Division.”
“Olaiya was tough as nails and
totally serious about her job in the Sea Org. I recall one time she was sitting
at lunch talking about someone who had irked her and she said, ‘I KR’ed her
a$$,’ meaning ‘I wrote a knowledge report on her.’”
“A lot of the OSA (Office of Special
Affairs) staff walked around with a chip on their shoulder and were really
bitchy at each other, so her remark was typical of the mood they were usually
Other co-workers who’ve defected from the controversial church report
Odufunke loved her children despite chosing a life without them. One particular
member, Kirsi Ojamo, reports:
“Olaiya did talk about them (her
children), particularly Mimi, and ‘it was obvious she loved her. That was my impression, that she
was not indifferent about her family to be sure.”
Olaiya Odufunke died from Pancreatic Cancer at the City of Hope Cancer Center
located in Los Angeles, California just 8 months after moving there from
Clearwater, Florida. Mimi Faust, following her death, went to the Florida-based
Scientology headquarters called Flag Service
Organization where her mother lived and worked, and
collected her belongings. (source ladyhiphop.com)
